Canadian Armed Forces launch investigation after soldier calls for public disobedience on coronavirus vaccinations

The Canadian Armed Forces have begun an investigation after one of its soldiers called for other members of the armed forces to resist orders to help in the distribution of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

This particular soldier, known as Leslie Kenderesi, spoke in front of a crowd at an anti-lockdown rally at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto on Saturday, Dec. 5.

A video of Kenderesi's speech at the rally has been posted online and has been shared widely on social media.

"I'm asking military right now serving, truck drivers, medical, engineers, whatever you are – do not take this unlawful order for the distribution of this vaccine," said Kenderesi during the rally. The soldier was wearing his fatigues while he spoke.

Kenderesi questioned the safety of taking the coronavirus vaccine. He said that he will most likely not take the vaccine. He called it a killer and said that "nobody knows what this vaccine will do to your body."

"I might get in a lot of [expletive] for doing this, but I don't care anymore," he added. The crowd strongly approved of his speech, cheering and applauding at the end of it.

The rally was organized by The Line Canada, a group dedicated to resisting tyranny and oppression while at the same time opposing the lockdowns and economic restrictions imposed upon Canadians by the government under the guise of the pandemic. They are also noted in their support for freely choosing whether people should wear a mask or not.

The Line Canada introduced Kenderesi in the rally as an "original Canadian patriot," and that he was an officer cadet who had over 25 years of experience. They also said he was skilled in hand-to-hand combat and that he was qualified as both a machine-gunner and a tank driver.

Canadian Armed Forces considering firing Kenderesi

The Department of National Defense confirmed on Tuesday, Dec. 8, that Kenderesi spoke at the rally and that he was currently serving as a member of the armed forces.

Dan Le Bouthillier, a spokesman for the National Defense Department said that they were conducting an investigation. As of press time, no decisions have been made on what course of action should be taken regarding Kenderesi's behavior.

"We were made aware, on the evening of Dec. 5th, that a member of the Cadet Instructors Cadre –which is a subcomponent of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve – participated in a public demonstration in Toronto in his CAF uniform. The individual made comments regarding the CAF's participation in Operation Vector. These comments are not reflective of views of the Government of Canada or Canadian Armed Forces policy."

Le Bouthillier added that he currently did not have any information regarding how long the armed forces' investigation will take, only that they consider this matter to be very serious and that no effort must be spared in making sure the truth of the matter is uncovered. Only then will the armed forces decide the appropriate action to take.

When pressed on what punishment Kenderesi may receive, Le Bouthillier admitted that they are not ruling out the possibility that the soldier may be released from the armed forces.

Operation Vector is the armed forces' plan to aid the Public Health Agency of Canada in the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. The armed forces are planning to use their resources to speed up the delivery of vaccines across the country, as well as the transportation of doses "on short notice" from countries where Canada plans to purchase vaccines, such as the United States, Spain and Germany.

The armed forces, in coordination with health workers and government officials, have already conducted "dry runs" of the complex plan to deliver the coronavirus vaccine doses across the country. According to the general leading the military operation, the practice run was intended to make sure everyone involved in the operation understand the extreme requirements necessary to handle a vaccine that must be kept at negative 94 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.

Health Canada has already approved the use of the coronavirus vaccine developed jointly by Pfizer and BioNTech. The Canadian government expects to receive up to 249,000 doses of the vaccine – enough for 124,500 people – by the end of December. The government has so far purchased a total of 20 million doses, which would be enough to supposedly inoculate around 25 percent of the country's entire population.
