Cotton, Loeffler introduce trio of Senate bills to crack down on rioters
09/10/2020 // Arsenio Toledo // Views

Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia, both Republicans, have introduced a series of bills to the Senate floor. Their goal is that these three bills will help crack down on the violence to life and property being inflicted upon America by Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters all across the country.

“Under lenient leftist policies, insurrectionists around the country continue to pillage America's communities,” said Cotton in a written statement. “It's past time we cracked down on their destructive actions. My legislation will incapacitate these rioters to prevent further destruction and increase their penalties, making the punishment fit their crimes.”

“American cities, businesses and livelihoods are being destroyed as a result of violent rioters and looters,” said Loeffler in her own written statement. “Enough is enough. The violence must stop, and it's time to hold these criminals and vandals accountable. This is a strong package of bills that puts us one step closer to ensuring our communities are safe and secure.”

Cotton and Loeffler's three bills are designed to deter rioters from continuing with their activities, and to make it more difficult for them to become repeat offenders if they are caught by law enforcement officers.

The first bill, known as the “No Catch and Release for Rioters Act,” is designed to make it more difficult for rioters to get bailed out of jail after being arrested. The bill does this by requiring law enforcement to hold a person charged with rioting until their trial unless the criminal is able to provide evidence that can prove their innocence.

The second bill, known as the Rioting Restitution Act, will allow victims of riots to sue the primary instigators and agitators. It does this by, according to Cotton's office, creating “a federal, private, civil cause action against rioters who meet the federal definition of rioting.” Furthermore, if the law is adopted, this will allow people injured by the rioters to get treble – or triple – damages.

The last bill, the “Support Peaceful Protest Act,” is a Senate companion to a bill brought forward in the House of Representatives by Republican Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana. Both bills will make those convicted of rioting in federal court ineligible to receive federal unemployment benefits under the CARES Act.

Cotton and Loeffler are right to propose bills that will make it more difficult for both Antifa and the Black Lives Matter movement to continue organizing riots. Find out why by listening to this episode of the Health Ranger Report, a podcast by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, as he talks about how the Black Lives Matter domestic terrorist organization is not, as they claim, a movement for the promotion of racial equality. Instead, it is a racist and genocidal crusade for the advancement of Black supremacy and the promotion of anti-White bigotry.

Cotton, Loeffler committed to fighting against leftist extremism

Both Cotton and Loeffler have been front and center in fighting back against the violence perpetrated by radical leftist organizations. Cotton has released ads in battleground states framing Republican legislation against rioters as key to preventing violence. Loeffler, on Monday, September 7, went on Fox & Friends to talk about the bills she and Cotton introduced.

Loeffler said that she was inspired to curb leftist aggression when she herself became the victim of it during a campaign event. Loeffler is up for reelection in Georgia.

During that event, the senator said that she and her supporters were interrupted and harassed by Black Lives Matter demonstrators, and that they “stood up” to them.

“The most important thing is that we have law and order in this country. We have to hold them accountable,” said Loeffler.

“Black Lives Matter rioters came in and they were protesting and trying to break up [the campaign event], but we didn't stop because, look, this is one thing that our country is built on.”

As the demonstrators kept heckling Loeffler and her supporters, the police refused to intervene because her event was being held in a public park building. Instead, the Republicans shouted even louder. They chanted Loeffler's name and “U.S.A.” in response.

Loeffler took this opportunity to talk to the Fox anchors about the stark difference between the Republicans and the Democrats, and what choices await voters come November.

“Do they want the opportunity to have free expression, to have the rule of law, safety and security in their communities?” Loeffler asked rhetorically. “Or do we get the chaos and pandemonium that [the Democratic Party] wants to create just to consolidate power in the radical left?”

The senator went on to talk about how the legislation she and Cotton introduced will help President Donald Trump enact his agenda, and how stopping the riots will help the country bounce back and develop a stronger and safer economy. She further stated that the bills would not only hold rioters accountable, but it would also hold district attorneys who refuse to prosecute rioters accountable for their actions. Loeffler is referring to the district attorney of Portland, where hundreds of rioters were released without them being charged for, as the senator puts it, burning down minority-owned and small businesses, destroying jobs and wrecking livelihoods.

The federal government is beginning to ramp up their campaign against the massive violence inflicted upon cities and their residents by Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters.
